OSHA's Personal Protective Equipment and Respiratory Protection Requirements

This session will address OSHA’s Personal Protective Equipment and Respiratory Protection standard requirements including the hazard assessment, documentation requirements and employee training. Brian will discuss the OSHA inspection process related to personal protective equipment and respirators, the documents OSHA inspectors are likely to request and common questions that are asked during the inspection process.

Participants will be able to identify the requirements of the OSHA’s Personal Protective Equipment and Respiratory Protection standard requirements. Participants will be able to ensure their personal protective equipment hazard assessment and written respiratory protection program address the major components. Participants will be able to recognize common violations identified during OSHA inspections.

Brian Bothast
Brian Bothast is a Lead Safety and Occupational Health Specialist with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) in Peoria, Illinois. He has worked for Caterpillar in the Environmental, Health, and Safety Department, and as an Assistant Area Director and Industrial Hygienist with OSHA. He is a 1988 graduate of Illinois State University with a B.S. in Environmental Health.
