Complying with OSHA's Hazard Communication Standard

This session will address OSHA’s Hazard Communication standard requirements and the steps employers must take to meet the requirements. Brian will discuss the required list of chemicals, written program, labeling, safety data sheets, non-routine tasks, contractor provisions, training and record-keeping.

Participants will be able to identify the requirements of the written hazard communication program. Participants will be able to review their safety data sheets and ensure they meet the updated standard requirements. Participants will be able to recognize common OSHA violations of the standard.

Brian Bothast
Brian Bothast is a Lead Safety and Occupational Health Specialist with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) in Peoria, Illinois. He has worked for Caterpillar in the Environmental, Health, and Safety Department, and as an Assistant Area Director and Industrial Hygienist with OSHA. He is a 1988 graduate of Illinois State University with a B.S. in Environmental Health.
